For Future
Fashion for Future is a participatory festival for fashion, sustainability, and social change in South Tyrol. Through exhibitions, workshops, and interventions, it makes fair fashion tangible and invites people to actively contribute to shaping a more just future.
This year's festival is organised by Annalena Egger, OEW – Organization for a Solidary World; Brigitte Gritsch, World Shops South Tyrol; Susanne Barta, Journalist and Slow Fashion Expert and Aart van Bezooijen, unibz – Faculty of Design and Art.
From April 21-25 you will discover our highlights including a thought-provoking exhibition at the WAAG house, inspiring open talks, interactive workshops at unibz, local studio visits, a swap party and a fashion show focused on second hand and fair trade. Check out the full program below! ↓

12 AM — 2 PM BLANKETTONE! (Workshop)
Co—design a wide social blanket starting

In a spatial multimedia installation, Alexandra Fruhstorfer takes a critical look at consumerism and the false promise of “recycling” within a textile material culture dominated by the exploitation of petroleum.

Sewing Cafè: Bring your old and torn clothing - together we repair and upgrade!

2 PM — 4 PM Consumption Detox: Stitch‘n Bitch (Workshop)
Resisting consumerism by coming together in a Stitch n’ Bitch; working on a collective artwork; making instead of consuming.
4 PM — 6 PM Working conditions in fashion – from “Made in Italy” to global textile districts
Sustainability advisor Caterina Occhio examines fashion supply chains, comparing “Made in Italy” with global producers, highlighting quality, exploitation, and the need for transparency

A playful quiz format creates space for exchange and offers the opportunity to learn more about fibres and the textile recycling chain together with “Experts by Experience”.

7 PM — 9 PM Atelier Visit & Interactive Textile Installation
You are warmly invited to visit and interact with the atelier space shared by eco-social designer and textile artist Adele Buffa and multidisciplinary artist Laura Pan. Within the space, the interactive textile installation Centoventi will be on display, fostering a sense of conviviality around the practice of embroidery.

A session about materials, care symbols, and practical tips for sustainable use. Anne-Rose Klotz shares her experience in making your favorite pieces last longer

2 PM — 4 PM No Fake Fashion (Workshop)
An interactive workshop exploring what really lies behind the labels of the clothes we wear addressing traceability, transparency and the future of fashion – with Lauren Berardi of Lottozero

Creative competition for ages 11–14: flags made from recycled textiles focusing on fair trade. Awards for the top three entries in each category.

A catwalk for Fair trade and Second Hand. Our favorite fashion items? See for yourself!

Refresh your wardrobe – exchange your clothes and accessories. Everyone is invited!
→ Please bring up to 5 items of clothing or accessories (clean and in good condition)
→ Hand your items to our staff at the check-in – and discover new pieces left by others!
1 PM — 3 PM Second Wind (Workshop)
Upcycling retired paraglider fabric into new value. Explore the value of discarded technical textiles by transforming them into something new!
